Kaleden Vineyard
Our Kaleden vineyard was planted in 2010 and sits on an old riverbed which provides excellent drainage making for incredible wine growing. We grow our pinot noir, gewurztraminer and merlot varieties here. Our Kaleden vineyard is also the location of our “Farmhouse” which is the namesake of our Merlot, Cab-Franc blend.
The pinot noir is planted on the cooler facing side and regularly receives the northerly wind helping to protect it from sunburn and mildew. The gewurztraminer is planted on a northern facing slope and ripens well with even sun during the day and the merlot is planted on the hottest facing side and gets the most sunlight during the day.
Riddle Road Vineyard
Riddle Road vineyard is the site visitors get to see when they come to Origin Wines.
It was planted in 2016 and is a hot, southwest facing site, set on a Naramata Bench shelf. How the vineyard is situated helps to provide ample heat making it ideal for the varietals grown here. Cabernet franc, malbec, viognier and syrah are the varieties grown onsite.
Our viognier and syrah are planted alongside one another to echo the Côtes du Rhône style. The cabernet franc is used in our Farmhouse blend and the malbec is used to make rosé, Equinox reserve and is blended in our Trio Meritage.
Gammon Vineyard
Our Gammon vineyard was planted in 2020 and will play host to the classic varietal, pinot noir. The pinot noir was planted on a steep southwest facing slope which will make for excellent wind protection and ripening potential. First harvest is expected in 2022.
